Bach Chorale Prelude on Wachet Auf (Sleepers Awake), BWV 645, Arr. for String Quartet & optional piano

Bach Chorale Prelude on Wachet Auf (Sleepers Awake), BWV 645, Arr. for String Quartet & optional piano

$7.50

This carefully edited arrangement/transcription of J.S. Bach’s original chorale prelude keeps the entire piece intact, with stylistically appropriate ornaments taken from the original organ version. Editorial articulations and dynamics have been added to eliminate guesswork and allow for an easier read-through. The piano part is purely optional, functioning as a small keyboard continuo and reinforcing the bass line. This piece is a suitable prelude selection for any secular service (such as a graduation) or for any religious service, as either a prelude or offertory. It is especially fitting for weddings or Eastertide. As written, it ends triumphantly and loudly, but by ignoring the dynamics in the last 5 bars, the piece may also end in a more subdued way.
