Clair de Lune, from Suite bergamasque by Debussy
Clair de Lune, from Suite bergamasque by Debussy
An advanced string quartet arrangement of "Clair De Lune" suitable for anything from a Bridal Entrance to a chamber music festival. To take advantage of the instruments' natural resonance, the piece has been transposed from D-flat to C Major. Careful attention has been given to each of Debussy's musical gestures, but each instrument has been treated idiomatically, so that while the parts may be a challenge, they make far better sense "under the fingers" than a naive transcription from piano. All parts have been laid out so that no page-turns are necessary.
This piece is great if your quartet is reasonably advanced, but still enjoys a challenge. A successful performance may involve a bit of practice, but the reward of surprisingly beautiful music is worth it!
Printable PDF includes parts and a small size reference score. All are designed for 8.5 x 11 paper. Blank sheets have been added so that if the file is printed double-sided on 8.5 x 11 with no additional configuration, the parts and score will be separated (for example, the back side of the viola part's last page won't have the cello's first page on it).
(Note: The single staff excerpt is from the viola part.)
